how it started.
In 1932, a mission was started in the home of Truman Bowles in Maumee. About three years later, the church moved uptown into a store-building on Allen Street. While still in Maumee, Sister Ida Jones was called to lead a revival, and as a result of this revival, the church moved again, but this time to Swan Creek; she then became the first pastor. Over the next 20 years, Bethel was blessed to be served by a number of different pastors. In 1952, Bethel purchased the Grace United Brethren property on East Second Street in Perrysburg. Rev. Daniel Wood, in 1974, was called as pastor of Bethel. It was during these years under Pastor Wood that God began to move in the services in a supernatural way. On New Year’s Eve 1978, Bethel held its first service in our current location.
